2016 German Open for wheelchair tennis

AMPELMANN is extremely proud once again to support the German Open for wheelchair tennis. The established annual competition has been taking place in Berlin since 2011. Spectators can also enjoy the competition, watching the skilled athletes, including this years ladies singles champion Katharina Krüger, who represented Germany in the Paralympic games in Rio.

How many athletes?
35 athletes from 16 countries competed in the 2016 wheelchair tennis German Open.
The beginning?
The sport wheelchair tennis began in 1976. After suffering a skiing accident the American Brad Parks began practicing wheelchair tennis during his rehabilitation.

Did you know…?

…the sport has been a recognised discipline at the Paralympic games since 1992.
