The most important trade fair worldwide for the food and agriculture industry and garden design was first held in 1926 as a local commodity exchange. In 1933 it bore the stamp of NS ideology, then disappeared for a while, and has taken place again every year since 1951 on the trade fair site at Messedamm 22 in 14055 Berlin. The next dates are 18 to 27 January 2019.

In 2016 Morocco was the first non-European guest country at the Green Week.
